The Initial Problem
In the current healthcare system, the myBeepr team identified that >95% of medical professionals turn to alternative instant messaging applications like WhatsApp to ensure that their communications were sent in a dependent manner.
This reduced the average medical communication loop from 27 minutes to 4 minutes and 30 seconds [1]. Additionally, the results of critical test results are communicated in less than 1 minute [2] on average.
But what’s the problem with WhatsApp for medical communication? The data is stored on overseas servers, breaching the compliance required for national healthcare regulations and laws in Australia. Additionally, bespoke solutions for highly specific healthcare professional workflows don’t exist on WhatsApp.
myBeepr is a secure alternative that is easy to use, and has customised functionality that is tailored for the highly specific workflow that doctors, nurses and allied health professionals.

Case Study:
Roles Based Messaging
Apart from myBeepr’s primary features; secure group messaging, hospital directory, clinical photography or on-call rosters, no other feature compares to Roles Based Messaging in terms of a tailored experience for myBeepr’s clients and users.
myBeepr’s Roles Based Messaging solution aims to solve the major communication hurdle witnessed in the primary care space: pagers.
In 2021, while rolling out myBeepr to several health districts across Melbourne and Sydney, it was clear that there was one problem that had not been addressed by any product in the market; what if doctors don’t know who they need to message?
In the typical hospital space, roles are a revolving door; some doctors may work at other sites on irregular schedules and even in different medical roles. For example, the Cardiology Consultant may be John Smith on weekdays, but it may be Jane Doe on the weekends. The important part is that doctors don’t necessarily know John Smith or Jane Doe, but what they do know is that if they need to contact the Cardiology Consultant, they contact their pager number.
This presents a communication problem that traditional messaging cannot solve; but one that can with Roles Based Messaging.
The Key Flows
Roles Based Messaging is a product that incorporates bespoke Web and Mobile product features for Medical Administrators, Doctors, Nurses and other Medical Staff
Create a New Role in the myBeepr Admin Portal
Medical Administrators, or the Medical Switchboard Operator has access to the myBeepr Admin Portal. This is where they can create new Roles when required so that Doctors and other Medical Staff can assign themselves to Roles in the App.
Assign a Role to a User in the myBeepr Admin Portal
With access to the Roles and Roster tab in the Admin Portal, Administrators can assign or unassign users to and from a Role.
Users can Accept or Decline a Given Role, or Assign it to Someone Else
Users in the app will receive a notification when they are assigned to a role, either by the Administrator or another user. When assigned, they will always be able to see that they are on call for a role when in the chat list.
When Assigned to a Role, Users get new options when creating a chat
As part of Roles Based Messaging, the hospital directory is also updated to display Roles available for messaging.
